Define the decision first
Research is useful when it answers a specific decision: which market to enter, which audience to prioritise or which message to lead with. Write the decision and the questions before collecting data.
Use search demand as a free signal
Keyword tools and Google Trends show what people actively look for, how demand changes seasonally and which problems they describe in their own words.
Study competitors in public
Ad libraries, websites, reviews and social content reveal offers, pricing cues and messages competitors are investing in. Look for gaps rather than copying.
Talk to customers
Five to ten structured customer or sales-team conversations often reveal objections and motivations that data alone misses.
Turn insight into tests
Convert each key finding into a testable hypothesis—an audience, message or offer—and validate it with a small campaign before scaling.
