What should you hire an AI marketing consultant to achieve?
Define a real constraint: research takes too long, content quality varies, production cannot support channel demand or teams use AI without standards.
A consultant should translate that problem into a prioritised use case, baseline, pilot and adoption plan.
Which capabilities should you assess?
Look for marketing strategy, process mapping, prompt and context design, source verification, brand governance, measurement and training. Tool knowledge should support these capabilities.
Ask the consultant to explain when AI is the wrong solution. A credible answer may recommend process improvement or conventional production instead.
What questions reveal a responsible approach?
Ask what data enters each tool, who reviews output, how claims are checked, how intellectual property is handled and what happens when the model is wrong.
Ask how the pilot will be compared with the current process and what evidence would justify expansion.
What should the first engagement deliver?
A useful first engagement can produce an opportunity map, risk boundaries, one tested workflow, operating instructions and a measurement review.
Avoid buying a large stack before the team has validated a repeatable use case.
